Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry is a way FUMC-Rocky Mount can provide Christ-centered care and outreach to hurting people in our congregation and community. Stephen Ministers are congregation members who have gone through 50 hours of training to provide one-to-one care. Each Stephen Minister is matched with a hurting person--men are paired with men, women with women--and meets weekly with that person to listen, care, pray, and encourage. These Stephen Ministers provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care and support to people experiencing grief, divorce, cancer, hospitalization, job loss, loneliness, disability, relocation, and other life difficulties. Stephen Ministers also help coordinate and provide communion for homebound members

The care receiver featured here  in this video was brave enough to share about her experience.

Access to this care is provided by the pew cards in the sanctuary, on the information table in the fellowship hall, by contacting one of our pastors (Jim or Matt), or by calling the Referrals Coordinator (Velda Williford, at 252-443-3005) for more information.
